James
Armstrong
President,
James Armstrong & Associates, Inc
Jim Armstrong founded
James Armstrong & Associates, Inc. during December,
1999 to serve the needs of a limited number of clients
in the Central part of the US and Canada. The idea was
to provide a senior level of representation to consumer
and trade magazines, newspapers, on-line opportunities,
trade shows and other events plus research vendors,
which could not ordinarily afford to add an experienced
pro or other team members to their staff.
An important area of
expertise at James Armstrong & Associates, Inc. is
the production of special sections and special editorial
projects in cooperation with a seasoned team of industry
veterans. Until Mid-2004, Jim Armstrong served as a
consultant to BusinessWeek Special Sections for Economic
Development Special Sections in Central US.
Armstrong also represents Inbound Logistics in a Central South part of the US and Canada. In addition, Inbound Logistics also appointed Armstrong as Director of Economic Development Worldwide. At IL, Jim Armstrong has spearheaded a series of Economic Development Special Sections highlighting logistics, which debuted during 2004 and continue through the present time.
Over the years, Jim
Armstrong has anchored a series of special sections at
the following publications: (1) BusinessWeek Magazine,
(2) Transportation & Distribution, (3) IndustryWeek
and (4) Financial World. In addition, Armstrong served
as Director of Economic Development at these magazines:
(1) IndustryWeek/IW Growing Companies, (2)
Transportation & Distribution/Chief Logistics
Officer and (3) Financial World Magazine.
This seasoned pro's
background also includes time as Texas/Oklahoma Manager
of Media Networks, Inc. and even a brief stint as
Southwest Regional Manager for that company, which is
now owned by AOL Time Warner, a National Account Manager
role at BusinessWeek and BusinessWeek International,
where he was based in St. Louis, Midwest Regional
Manager & Director of Economic Development for
Financial World/Corporate Finance, where he was based in
Chicago, Regional Manager & Director of Economic
Development for IndustryWeek and IW Growing Companies in
Chicago and Central Regional Manager & Director of
Economic Development for Transportation &
Distribution Magazine/Chief Logistics Officer.
While he served as
Director of Economic Development at IndustryWeek,
Armstrong proposed The World Class Communities Issue,
which was brought to fruition by Rich Osborne as Editor
at Large of that magazine and which became a standout
success.
Armstrong has received
numerous sales achievement awards, as well as industry
awards. One such example includes the Professional of
the Year Award from the St. Louis Chapter of BMA in
1990. As president of the St. Louis chapter, Jim also
received the Chapter of the Year Award among all large
chapters of BMA for 1987-88. Armstrong was also
recognized with four consecutive awards for Publications
on an international level from BMA.
Jim Armstrong is currently a member of the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, among other organizations. Armstrong also serves as a church officer, is an accomplished pianist and an excellent skier.
Armstrong is a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, which is the home of Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech.
